Terry Lee Brown was an avid cyclist in our community for many years. On September 30, 2012, Terry was tragically killed while riding his bike on State Route 90 near mile marker 326. An inattentive motorist struck him from behind, killing him instantly. As a friend to many, Terry will be greatly missed in our community. A cycling vigil was held on Thursday, October 4th. A huge turnout of over 100 people met behind the Circle K on Buffalo Soldier Trail to honor Terry before the start of the ride. A ghost bike memorial was created and placed along State Route 90 at the spot where Terry was killed. This ghost bike serves as a memorial to Terry and a reminder to motorists to drive responsibly and be aware of cyclists because a split-second of inattention can senselessly end someone's life.
A big thanks to the following people:
Anna Trader for taking the lead and coordinating the efforts for the ghost bike.
Erin Tattrie for coordinating the donation of the ghost bike by a local family and designing and providing the "Share the Road" window decals.
Paul Herbert for donating his skills and supplies to weld and paint the ghost bike. Awesome job!
Ken Kingsley and Stu Carter digging the hole and providing the concrete.

I went out this morning to see the ghost bike and say a prayer for Terry. I already know he is riding his bike up in heaven with a triple chocolate fudge cupcake in one hand and his dogs that have passed before him running behind him. What a beautiful memorial to Terry. Great job!!! He would love it!
